So, as I mentioned in my previous post, my one makeup obsession is foundation. If the world was ending tomorrow and I had ten seconds to grab one makeup item from my vanity, it would hands down be foundation (not that I would actually need foundation if the world was ending, but you get my point). My makeup bag is probably 70% foundation and 30% everything else. I know, i know…don’t judge. I’m already an indecisive person, so picking my foundation in the morning is a real challenge. But regardless of my #firstworldproblems my foundation obsession still remains!!

I’ve never tried a stick foundation before, and up until recently I’ve never been interested in trying one. I have oily/combo skin and usually tend to go for tinted moisturizers or matte foundations. And because of there creamy consistency, I’ve always steered clear of stick foundations for fear of looking like giant ball of grease.

Well! Obviously from the title of this post, I ended up buying my very first stick foundation. I’ve been wearing this foundation religiously for the past two months and thought, “what the heck, I should write a review about it”… and here goes my very first foundation review!

1. The Packaging

The first thing most people notice with any given product is the packaging. Me personally, I could care less, it’s the product that matters to me, but for the sake of this review, i’m putting in my two cents. In my opinion, the packaging of the Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation Stick is sleek and minimalistic. It’s convenient packaging makes it super easy to apply. It also minimizing the mess from applying liquid foundation on the back of your hand (y’all know what I’m talking about). Applying the foundation is super quick and easy. I simply draw lines all over my face, and blend it all out with a dense flat top foundation brush.

2. The Color

Finding the right foundation color is tricky, am I right? I have a medium/dark complexion with yellow/neutral undertones. I find that most medium/dark foundations are too golden for me, leaving me to walk around looking like a straight up Oompa Loompa. But with 31 shades to choose from and some trial and error, I was able to find my perfect foundation shade. Initially I purchased the foundation from Sephora in number 6 (Golden), and soon realized that color was way too orange on me and went back, in hopes of exchanging it for number 5.75 (Golden Honey). Unfortunately, Sephora only carries a certain number of colors in stores (none of which are the newly released in-between shades). And since i’m a try it before you buy it kinda girl, I took my ass to the nearest Bobbi Brown counter to check out the new shades. I ended up getting the foundation in 5.75 (Golden Honey), and i’m really happy I did. It matches my skin tone perfectly. I repeat, Perrrrfectly!

3. The Coverage

What I truly love about this foundation is the fact that it provides medium to full coverage without looking cakey. The formula is super blendable and easy to build. With just one layer, it covers the majority of my blemishes and the hyper-pigmentation around my mouth. Honestly, I have no complaints about the coverage…

4. The Finish

They were not lying when they said SKIN FINISH. One thing i absolutely hate is looking like i’m wearing a buttload of foundation, but the finish on this foundation is very natural. It is a demi matte foundation that glows in all the right spots. It literally looks like my skin, but better, and what more can I ask for!  My only con with this foundation is the fact that it is not, I repeat NOT, transfer proof. So those in white tees better beware.

5. The Wear

The first week of wearing this foundation, I found that it only lasted for about 3 to 4 hours. Bummer right? However, once I started experimenting with primers and setting sprays I was able to make the foundation last past 8+ hours. For me, the trick was in the base. I used MAC Fix Plus as a primer before applying my foundation and lo and behold 8+ hours of wear!! I also feel like the longer you wear the foundation, the better it looks. Has anyone experience that before?

Anyway, all in all, I would definitely recommend this foundation. And as I mentioned in my October beauty favorites post, I just can’t seem to keep my hands off of it. I reach for it so many times that i’m already contemplating buying a second one. Let me know down below if you’ve tried the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick and what you thought about it. <3

First off, I can’t believe its already November!  Everyday I look back and think, where in the hell did 2016 go! Well, with another month down I thought I would share some of my October faves! For some reason I have not been able to keep my hands off of these items, and I find myself reaching for them almost every day.

1. Lush’s Fairy Dust: Sparkling Dusting Powder

I am a HUGE fan of Lush, especially now that they have expanded their brand beyond soaps and lotions. I will admit, when I first bought this product I was a bit skeptical that I would like it, but for $6.95 I thought what the heck. Although it wasn’t a necessity, i’m so glad I bought this product. To apply I use a big fluffy makeup brush and dust the powder all over my chest and shoulders to give it a little sparkle. It’s basically a highlighter for you’re skin and who doesn’t love a highlighter. And did I mention it smells AMAAAAZING! Well, more like bubblegum, and I don’t mind smelling like a walking piece of bubblegum.

2. Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer

So I have a love hate relationship with this concealer…more love now than hate, because I finally got my perfect color. When I first tried this concealer, I wasn’t a big fan because apparently, I was using a color that was too light for my skin tone. I don’t usually go for a super strong highlight under the eyes.  After returning it back to Sephora and repurchasing it in Caramel (was using ginger), all I can say is that this concealer is super lightweight under the eyes and is great for everyday use.

3. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick

I have never used a stick foundation before, I usually stick with liquid foundations, but lately I have been dying to try a stick foundation. Let me just say that my one makeup obsession is hands down foundation. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Bobbi Brown’s cosmetic line, but never had the chance to try any of her products, so I decided to pick up her Skin Foundation Stick in Golden Honey (5.75) and Golden (6.0). First let me just say that I’m not going to go into too much detail about the foundation because I will be doing a product review soon, but MY! OH MY! do I love this foundation! It’s packaging is so convenient and it looks so natural on the skin.

4.  Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo

I usually don’t go for products by BareMinerals, but when the sales associate at Sephora recommended this, I was in the market for a finishing powder and decided to try it. This setting powder really surprised me! I love using the matte powder to set my under eye concealer and find that it’s great for absorbing excess oil throughout the day. The glow powder is great for setting the rest of your face and leaves your skin looking bright and refreshed.

Saved the best for last.. 🙂

5.  You Can’t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain by Phoebe Robinson

I stumbled on this book when I was visiting a local bookstore in Boulder, Colorado. Thank God for the remaining bookstores, or where else will I be able to wander aimlessly looking for my next good read. You Can’t Touch My Hair is unequivocally a masterpiece of 2016. Not only does this book discuss the “politics” of natural hair, and why it’s inappropriate to ask to touch it, but it also dives into bigger issues surrounding race, gender, and pop culture. Like many comedians do, Phoebe incorporates humor in her book by making it fun to read while it penetrates the deepest depths of your soul. Please, do yourself a favor and get a copy of her book. It’s a must read!

Welp! That’s it for now. Thanks for reading! <3
